The motorboat club driver

As far as powerboat instruction in Washington DC goes, this is the target audience for my motorboating services. Freedom and Carefree are great avenues to getting on the water in a motorboat without a huge capital outlay. Unfortunately, the training they offer is rather basic and lacks structure on the very basics of boating, which include knot tying, docking, low speed maneuvering and high speed transitions. I have several clients who have done some training with me and are now comfortable in boating and confident in their abilities. Pushing the power up to full and letting the boat get of control is no way to enjoy a nice summer’s day on the water.

Knowing the rules of the road and avoiding collisions is a fundamental skill every boater should have, yet many are not aware or forgot their basic training. I have links to download USCG documents that graphically show Navigational Aids, Rules of the Road and other important information.

Having these reference pamphlets is great, but having an instructor explain them is better. See you on the water fellow DC boaters!
